Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! I love the time with family, making homemade recipes, and the feeling of love I get when our friends and family gather to celebrate. One of the things I have grown to love is time honored recipes and people who cherish their recipes enough to share with others. While I previously understood why people would never share their “secret” recipe; I now think it is better to have an open heart and keep the tradition alive by sharing the recipe.
Nobody can make it like you. You could give 10 people the same recipe and it will turn out differently. Think about the use of ingredients, oven temperature, style of measuring, altitude, etc. One person may add one tablespoon of vanilla when it calls for 1 tsp. I just feel we should all share the love!
Considering sharing the love, I would like to share my favorite Thanksgiving recipes with you! The first recipe comes from the sweetest woman from the church I grew up going to. She was my Grandmother’s age. A delightful person full of life. I still to this day I smile thinking of her.
One day she brought a carrot souffle to our Thanksgiving potluck. I am a fan of sweet potatoes and sweet potato casserole. I had never had carrot souffle before.
This was one of those things where you tried something and had to search for the person who made it to get the recipe. It tastes delicious and you look fancy bringing and just mentioning you made a souffle. It is now my husbands “claim to fame” as he has made this recipe for the past 10 years and now claims it as his own.
